About The Varietal
Schioppettino is a dark-skinned grape variety indigenous to Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the far northeastern part of Italy. Although its plantings significantly declined in the late 19th and 20th centuries, the grape was rescued from the brink of extinction in the 1970s. In recent times, Schioppettino is experiencing a resurgence in both respect and recognition.
