About The Varietal
Turbiana, formerly known as Trebbiano di Lugana, is the grape variety used in the production of Lugana wine in the Lake Garda area. Initially believed to be part of the broader Trebbiano family, recent DNA profiling revealed that Turbiana is, in fact, Verdicchio, sharing no genetic connection with the Trebbiano grape. In the distinctive soil and climate of the Lake Garda region, Verdicchio has evolved into a unique grape variety, known locally as Turbiana.
