2015 Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Cuvee 1512 (Burgundy, FR) 4R

In the hamlet of Le Breuil, deep in the southern Beaujolais and perched above a narrow creek, the Domaine Dupeuble has been running almost continuously since 1512. Strong advocates of the lutte raisonnée approach to vineyard work, they tend their vines without the use of any chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. Sourced from three vineyard parcels home to the property’s oldest vines, these grapes saw a traditional “Burgundian” vinification with a long (three-week) maceration instead of the whole-berry fermentation typically employed in the region. This treatment yielded a more concentrated, structured red with abundant wild berry and spice notes. This year's vintage, it can easily stand up to red meats or stews and also has the potential to age further in bottle.

    About The Varietal

    Gamay

While Gamay is renowned for creating the vibrant, fruit-forward red wines of Beaujolais, it is also cultivated in substantial quantities in different regions of the Loire Valley, Savoie, and western Switzerland.
