2015 Favia "Suize" Viognier (Amador County, CA) 9W

Lushly ripe grapes and lengthy oak aging combine for yummy full-bodied wines

2015 Favia "Suize" Viognier (Amador County, CA) 9W

Favia’s vineyards are located in Amador, what was once the heart of California gold-mining country, but you won’t need to dig too far to see the treasure in this bottle. Viognier, a unique varietal typically found in Northern Rhone, produces a wine that is bursting with tropical fruit, nectarine, and a fair bit of acidity to back it up. Pair this really well with squashes or root veg.

    About The Varietal

Viognier, synonymous with the northern Rhône, is a versatile grape that plays a dual role, not only as a white wine grape but also blended with Syrah in red wines. When crafted as a varietal wine, Viognier produces golden-colored, aromatic white wines characterized by pronounced stone fruit aromas, with apricots and peaches commonly noted. The wines are known for their full-bodied and often textural palate. However, Viognier is susceptible to high alcohol levels and may exhibit low levels of freshening acidity.
