2019 E. Guigal Gigondas (Rhone Valley, FR) 5R

For over 50 years, the Guigals have played a significant role in Gigondas, and they delight in witnessing the growing interest and appreciation for the appellation. Guigal's Gigondas can be likened to a "quiet storm" among their village wines. While their Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Southern Rhône and their increasing presence in Crozes-Hermitage from the North are widely recognized, it's the Gigondas that commands attention as soon as it's poured. This wine exudes sheer pleasure, bursting with ripe fruit and boasting depth and a slightly brooding character, courtesy of the prominent Mourvèdre component. Yet, it maintains refinement, complexity, and impressive aging potential, making it a true standout.

    About The Varietal

    GSM Blend

The traditional and robust blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre is typically linked to the southern Rhone, notably in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. However, exceptional wines with this blend are also crafted in the New World, with Australia and California standing out as regions that produce highly praised examples.
