2020 J. Bouchon “Salvaje” Pais (Valle del Maule, Chile) 4R

This exceptional Chilean red comes from 200-year-old vines!! Vibrant notes of red fruits, cherry, and wild strawberry with floral notes. Fresh on the palate with good balance and a long, rustic finish.

    About The Varietal

    Pais

Pais, known as Criolla Chica in Argentina and Mission in North America, is a historically significant red grape variety. It holds the distinction of being the first Vitis vinifera grape variety to be transported from the Old World (Spain) to the New World (Mexico) during the 16th Century. Despite its historical importance, it has often been considered a grape of lower quality.
