2020 Paul Filliatreau "La Grande Vignolle" Rouge (Loire Valley, FR) 4R

Sourced from 45-year-old certified organic vines in a 6-hectare vineyard, La Grande Vignolle. The vineyard is situated on a chalk cliff with calcareous clay soils, set back from the Loire River on a high plateau at the northern edge of the Saumur-Champigny appellation. The grapes are destemmed, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, and undergo about 20 days of maceration. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for approximately ten months before bottling. Years ago, importers Joe Dressner and Denyse Louis requested that Grande Vignolle remain unfiltered for the American market—a tradition that continues today, reflected in both the bottle and the label.

    About The Varietal

    Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a dark-skinned grape variety of French origin cultivated in numerous wine-producing regions across the globe. It is best recognized for its significant role as a red grape variety in the Loire Valley and as the third most important grape in Bordeaux. Cabernet Franc is also a common component in many of the world's finest Bordeaux blend wines.
