2021 M. Graillot "Domaine de Lises" Crozes-Hermitage (Rhone Valley, FR) 7R

There are few names as respected in the Northern Rhone as the name Graillot, and the family stands as one of the prime examples of the excellence that the Rhone Valley can deliver.

"Domaine de Lises" embodies the power and elegance of Syrah, with complex aromas and harmonious palate. Enjoy notes of blackberries, cracked black pepper, and classic Rhone smoked meat. The palate is defined and firm, mimicking the nose with integrated tannins, velvety texture, and a hint of spice on the finish. The bold, structured character makes this an excellent companion for grilled and roasted meats. The first chill evening of fall always makes me wish for this bottle and a hearty bowl of stew.

    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.
