2021 Vina Maitia "Aupa" Pipeño (Valle del Maule, CL) 1R

Pipeño is the traditional method of winemaking in Chile, dating back to the 16th century when the País grape was brought to the Americas by Spanish missionaries. The grapes for "Aupa" are hand-harvested and see a natural fermentation before being ageing in concrete. Light and rustic, this wine is filled with notes of brambly raspberries, wild herbs and fresh loam. Best served with a light chill on a sunny day!

    About The Varietal

    Carignan

Carignan is a grape variety with dark skin, believed to have originated in Aragon. This grape is prevalent in wines produced along the Mediterranean coast, particularly in northeastern Spain and the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. It is frequently used for blending with other significant regional grape varieties, including Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre.
