In July 2016, five NBA team owners—Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck of the Celtics, Jeanie Buss of the Lakers, Michael Jordan of the Hornets, and Wes Edens of the Bucks—came together over dinner and bonded through their shared passion for tequila and that evening led to the creation of Cincoro. The name blends “Cinco,” meaning five, and “oro,” meaning gold, representing their goal of setting the gold standard in tequila.
